The fee for the refund depends on the bank of the customer.

Pricing depends on how the payments are accepted - online checkout via e-bank, online with a card, via additional services (Giropay, ideal, instant transfer, SafetyPay, etc.), at a retail place, via SMS messages, as well as MIP (Paysera authorization via e-bank) or Banklink (authorization via e-bank and confirmation of payment in it). It also depends on the category, categories are:

  • I - sites selling physically deliverable products, travel agencies, insurance services, or nationally approved social aid organizations (clothing, jewelry, etc.)
  • II - sites selling virtual services or products (gift coupons, movies & music, etc.)
  • III - sites selling high-risk products or services (food supplements, surveillance products as well as erotic portals)

Moreover, physical entities at Paysera pay higher taxes by 1% from the transaction and the maximum amount is twice as big. The taxes depend, as mentioned, on the category and the number of transactions and their combined value during the past 30 days.

Note: Fixed transaction fee for all transactions is 0,07 EUR. Moreover, bank fees apply as well - for all MIP payments from bank 0,35% and a max of 0,50 EUR

Price comparison Paysera, Opay, Make Commerce

The payment processors were selected by their popularity and because their payment information was accessible publicly and could be calculated.

In this comparison, we will compare prices of Bank Link transactions (as they are one of the most popular and user accepted payment methods).

Scenario

You, a company, own an e-shop which sells clothing. Your average order value is 50 EUR and you do 120 transactions per 30 days, the sum of transactions per month is 6000 EUR.

In the below table a fee for a 50 EUR transaction is calculated and the total fees that would be paid if you would get 40 transactions from each bank a month

Conclusion

Functionality

Functionality-wise Paysera is the winner - it offers a lot of possible payment methods, works with many banks and payment cards from around the world, has integrations on many e-commerce platforms, and is the biggest provider in the Baltic region. However, it depends on the company’s or e-shop’s needs if they need so many possible payment methods.

Pricing

Price-wise it is a bit harder to tell which one would be best and strongly depends case-by-case. Paysera has the lowest fee’s in the above example, but their pricing strongly depends on what banks the payment is done through and what payment option is selected. Paysera itself strongly advertises MIP, for which it offers the lowest fees, which is quite a new payment option and not trusted by most buyers as well as not advertised by other payment providers, it also depends on what product you sell and whether you are registered as a company or a private individual.

Make Commerce had the second-lowest fees, however, as mentioned these fees are only present when viewing the deals via LT and LV domains and are different for EE-EN, which would affect the overall result.

Meanwhile, Opay has a very straightforward pricing plan which could work for many different businesses, moreover, it seems that they are flexible regarding the subject, unlike the bigger and older player - Paysera.

Community Opinions

Based on research in Lithuanian online forums, it seems that Paysera is by far the most commonly used payment provider and many enjoy it, it is trusted and offers a lot of for the price, however, in recent times it started suffering from frequent infrastructural downtimes, long approval and general answer waiting periods and payment processing issues which affected the user experience, moreover, it’s system itself is regarded as “not up to date”, which has led people to look for alternatives like Opay, which most people transition to and are satisfied with and seems to be the second most popular choice to many.

At the end of the day it all comes down to individual needs, what is more important - functionality or fees, can you deal with downtimes, how many plugins do you need and what is your size or goal.
